On behalf of the student organizers of
the Wharton India Economic Forum (WIEF) and the Wharton
School, we are pleased to welcome you to our Eighth Annual
Conference, "India: Investment for the Future".
India's economic reforms have taken root
over the past decade and have completely changed the face of
Indian businesses. From being a small and protected market
hobbled by the "license raj," India is well on its
way to becoming a significant player in the global free
markets. Indian companies have adapted to these sweeping
changes by transforming themselves into global players by
exploiting comparative advantages offered by India. The IT
industry is the poster child of this transformation and the
topic of one of our industry panels. The other industry panel,
for the first time, deals with the Indian healthcare industry,
an important part of the Indian industry.
As we enter the next decade of economic
growth, India Inc. is raring to go. WIEF has traced the growth
of the Indian industry in the past seven conferences and as a
natural progression to past themes this year's conference will
focus on the investments required to position India to take
its place as a global economic superpower.
We sincerely hope you'll enjoy the
conference and benefit from the experience and wisdom of our
speakers. Please use this occasion to explore India's economic
future with the speakers and your fellow attendees.
Sincerely,
WIEF Executive
Committee
