Roopen
is currently the Managing Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers
Ltd which is a member entity of the global network of
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He was the Consulting and
Outsourcing Services Leader in India until September 2002.
Effective October 1, 2002 he has assumed his current role.
Roopen has a post
graduate degree in advanced accounting and a graduate degree
in law. In addition he is a member of the Institute of Company
Secretaries of India, The Institute of Chartered Secretaries
and Administrators, London, The Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India and The Computer Society of India..
He was working experience in
several countries including the US, Australia, Japan, Korea,
Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan .
Roopen also initiated
and actively directed the process of setting up PwC's
Technology Centre in Salt Lake, Calcutta, which houses
state-of-the-art technology and related training facilities
for PwC consultants and is a global outsourcing hub for the
PwC network. He also contributed significantly in setting up
PwC India's outsourcing hub.
Roopen is a member of
the Executive Council of Nasscom, the voice of the software
and services companies in India. He is a member of the Board
of Trustees of Academy of Fine Arts. He is a member of the
Board of Governors of Xavier Institute of Management and a
member of the Board of Directors of The Bengal Club-one of
India's oldest clubs.
