Chan Heng Chee is Singapore's Ambassador to the United
States. She has served as Permanent Representative to
the United Nations, High Commissioner to Canada and
Ambassador to Mexico. Prior to entering diplomacy, Ambassador
Chan was Founder Director of the Insititute of Policy
Studies and Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian
Studies. She was also Founder Executive Director of
the Singapore International Foundation (which created
a Singapore version of the Peace Corps). Ambassador
Chan was a Member of the International Advisory Board
of the Council of Foreign Relations, New York; the Council
of International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS),
London; and the International Council of the Asia Society.
She is an author of several articles and books on politics
in Singapore, Southeast Asia and international security.
