J.
KOFI BUCKNOR
CEO,
J. KOFI BUCKNOR & ASSOCIATES, GHANA

Mr.
Bucknor is an investment banker with a 24-year career in international
finance. He currently manages J. Kofi Bucknor and Associates,
which provides corporate finance services to corporate clients
and Governments, primarily in Africa. Prior to establishing
J. Kofi Bucknor and Associates, Mr. Bucknor served as the
Managing Director of Cal Merchant Bank, Ghana from 1997 -
2000. Before joining Cal, Mr. Bucknor was an Executive Director
for Corporate Finance with Lehman Brothers, London focusing
on Africa from 1994 - 1997.
He served
as Deputy Treasurer and then Treasurer of the African Development
Bank in Abidjan from 1986 - 1994. While at ADB, he was responsible
for managing the bank's $3 billion multi-currency investment
portfolio as well as its capital market and banking operations.
Mr. Bucknor
was also a Vice President of Chemical Bank in New York and
managed the bank's Regional Representative Office in Abidjan
from 1983 to 1986. He has also worked with the First Boston
Corporation in New York, Merchant Bank of Ghana and the Northern
Ireland Electricity Service during his student days (1975
- 1978).
He is
a former Director of Ashanti Goldfields Company, a former
member of the Policy Committee of the Centre for African Studies,
Oxford University. He has also served on the International
Advisory Committee of Normandy Mining Corporation of Australia.
In addition, Mr. Bucknor was a member of the Commonwealth
Secretary General's Special Advisory Group on the Asian Financial
Crisis.
Mr. Bucknor
currently co-chairs the Ghana Bond Market Committee, and chairs
the Ghana Stock Exchange Council. He is a member of the Council
of the University College of Education and serves on the Boards
of Directors of TA Holdings Limited of Zimbabwe, Newmont Ghana
Gold Limited, Alliance Française and Ecobank Transnational
Incorporated. Mr. Bucknor also serves as an Adviser to HRH
Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the Prince's
African Investments.
Mr. Bucknor who is fluent in French, holds a BSc in Administration
(1976) from the University of Ghana and an MBA in Finance
(1979) from Columbia University in New York.
