Alexandre de Carvalho

CEO, Aventis French Speaking Africa

Mr. Alexandre de Carvalho has served as the CEO of Aventis Pharma French Speaking Africa since 1998, a commercial and industrial organization based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, spanning 14 countries with over 250 employees and market leader with 50 million Euros in Turnover.

Prior to Aventis, Mr. de Carvalho led a distinguished career at Rhône-Poulenc Rorer (RPR) where he enjoyed several leadership positions. From 1997 to 1998, out of RPR HQ in Philadelphia, he served as Sr Director of Strategic Planning for the Americas, an organization with $1.8 billion in turnover. From 1991 to 1997, Mr. de Carvalho served as Business Unit Director of RPR Brazil where he was responsible for Marketing and Commercial Operations of this 150 million Euros subsidiary. Prior to 1991, he served as Marketing Director for the Spanish subsidiary of RPR. He had held from the beginning of his career with RPR in 1983, various positions in Controlling, Sales and Marketing throughout France, Belgium and Portugal.

Mr. de Carvalho holds a Master in Business Administration from HEC Paris, and is also an alumnus from the Harvard Business School. Mr. de Carvalho is fluent in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese.
